Before painting on wood panel, you need to prepare it. Clean the wood surface with a damp cloth to dust and trash removal. Fill the nail holes with frequent or wood filler. After frequent dries, sand it with fine sandpaper and wipe off dust particles. Apply painter’s tape along baseboards, ceiling and adjacent walls, so you do not paint any unwanted surfaces.
Let the primer dry for several hours before painting over wood paneling. Different types of paint dry at different rates, it is so best to check the drying time according to the product instructions. After the primer is dry, apply a thin and even layer of oil-based paint. Apply in the same way as the primer, using a 3/8-inch nap roller and a small brush to get into the corners or track. When the first color layer dries, add another coat of paint. Cover the entire wall of color.
